The owner of the social media site polled its users on Saturday about whether Trump's account should be reinstated.

Musk tweeted later in the day, "The people have spoken, and Trump will be reinstalled.

52 percent backed the restoration, while 48 percent opposed it, according to the data.

After his account was deleted, Trump lost all of his followers, but in less than three hours, he had more than one million.

Early last year, the former US President was suspended for breaking Twitter's terms of service.
