Adamawa gets new REC

The Adamawa State office of the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner.

A press release issued by the Administrative Secretary, Salihu Yau said the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barristar Kassim Gana Gaidam had met with his mangement team and electoral officers from the 21 local areas in the state.

The statement added that Gaidam had commenced  consultation with security agencies, stakeholders and other interest groups from Madagali Local Government Area to discuss security challenges affecting the CVR exercise in the area.

"A total of 86,631 have been registered before the application of Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS) while 130,000 unclaimed PVC are lying parlo", the statement said.

"The REC will continue to lead the affairs of the state office in its preparation towards the conduct of a successful general Elections come 2019 in Adamawa State".

Barristar Gaidam was the REC in Adamawa between 2010 and 2014 before his transfer to Gombe State. He hailed from Yobe State.
